Scientist

Corsalex is a Sunnyvale-based biotechnology company developing therapies to treat C9orf72 ALS/FTD. Corsalex is broadly interested in understanding the pathophysiology of this disease and advancing therapeutics to treat it. We are recruiting a scientist to manage our wet lab and conduct early-stage research. Specifically, the scientist will focus on the identification and validation of novel drug targets as well as advancing drugs from hit identification to development stage.
We are looking for a neurobiologist with deep expertise in cellular models and assay development. The individual should be able to optimize various biophysical, biochemical, molecular, and cellular assays as well as conduct proof-of-concept studies in relevant models. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated, independent, possesses a proactive attitude, and has a strong desire to discover novel biology and advance new drugs to treat neurodegenerative diseases.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Expertise:
PhD in Neurobiology with a strong research background in molecular and cellular biology
Experience in developing and implementing cellular assays
Skilled in light and fluorescence microscopy
Skilled in molecular biology
Able to work independently
Able to trouble shoot experiments
Critical thinking and passion for scientific discovery
Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to collaborate with others on cross functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed, environment consisting of internal and external team members
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Physical requirements:
Office/Laboratory based position in Sunnyvale, CA
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in neurodegenerative diseases
Experience in 3D cultures
Experience in electrophysiology
Experience with iPSC cultures and differentiation
Postdoctoral experience
Responsibilities
Lab:
Testing compounds in an array of cell lines, emphasis on mechanism of action
RNAseq and proteomics studies
Developing target engagement assays to run in the lab
Developing assays as needed
Generating data reports and presentations
Management:
Responsible for starting up the lab and all associated functions and needs
Evaluate new targets
Evaluate potential scientific collaborations
CROs interaction -evaluate current and new CROs (protocols, cost)
CDD management
Presents findings internally and contributes to company publications
Contributes to the development of patent applications as needed
